Elon holds Delaware to 11 points in first half in 83-56 win

ELON, N.C. (AP) Christian Hairston and Brian Dawkins scored 12 points apiece and Elon held Delaware to 11 points in the first half to coast to an 83-56 win on Thursday.

Tanner Samson and Dainan Swoope added 10 points apiece for the Phoenix (14-10, 5-6 Colonial Athletic), who went 32 of 62 from the field, with six 3-pointers, and 13 of 16 from the line.

Anthony Mosley had 23 points for Delaware (5-17, 0-11) and Devonne Pinkard had 17.

Elon scored just one basket in the final 9:50 of the first half, getting outscored 13-2 to fall behind by 20. The Hornets made just 5 of 23 baskets before intermission.

Sheldon Eberhardt and Samson had 3-pointers in a 10-0 burst that put the Phoenix up 57-19 with 11:38 to play.

With the big lead, Elon had 17 players get in the game and the reserves scored 46 points, with 13 players scoring and 14 grabbing at least one rebound.
