Portland holds off Pepperdine 73-70

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) Alec Wintering scored 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 57 seconds left, D'Marques Tyson added 16 and Portland held on for a 73-70 win over Pepperdine on Thursday night.

Stacy Davis went to the line with 9.2 seconds and Pepperdine down two but missed both free throws. Portland's Jarrel Marshall was fouled at 6.5 seconds and made one free throw.

The Pilots (10-15, 4-8 WCC) then fouled Amadi Udenyi and after he missed his first free throw with 3.1 seconds left he intentionally missed the second. The Waves tipped the ball out of bounds but when Portland inbounded the ball it went untouched and Pepperdine got the ball back in the front court. However Marshall blocked Lamond Murray's shot from the left corner at the buzzer.

Pepperdine (14-9, 7-5), which was 17 of 37 from the line, took its first lead, 60-58 on a 3 from Jett Raines with 6:41 remaining. Raines finished with a career high 27 and Davis had 27 with 13 rebounds for his 30th career double-double.
