Norfolk State uses 4-point play to beat Howard, 99-92 in 2OT

WASHINGTON (AP) Jeff Short scored 13 of his 19 points in two overtime periods, and Norfolk State beat Howard 99-92 on Saturday night.

Short scored a layup early in the first overtime, and then converted a 4-point play with 5.6 seconds left to tie it at 86 and force a second overtime. He made a 3-pointer to give the Spartans a 91-88 lead, then scored four points in the final 30 seconds to seal it.

D'Shon Taylor scored 22 points to lead Norfolk State (11-13, 7-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which has won five of their last six games. Zaynah Robinson added 19 points.

James Daniel scored 34 points for Howard (10-13, 4-4). Daniel made six 3-pointers and all 12 free-throw attempts, finishing on 8-of-20 shooting. Daniel made a 3 with 1:35 left to make it 73-all, and then both teams missed a shot on their last two possessions to end regulation.
