Hofstra uses second half surge to beat William & Mary 86-80

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) Rokas Gustys scored 25 points, collected 15 rebounds and Hofstra pulled away in the second half for an 86-80 win over William & Mary on Thursday night.

Ameen Tanksley added 18 points for Hofstra (17-8, 9-4 Colonial Athletic Association), while Denton Koon, Brian Bernardi and Juan'ya Green had 13 points apiece. The Pride shot 54 percent from the field (34-63) and got 21 assists to snap a two-game skid.

Tied 38 at the half, Hofstra broke away with a 22-10 run midway through the second half and protected it down the stretch, hitting five free throws in the final 1:26 to clinch the win. Tanksley and Green each sank a pair in the final minute and Terry Tarpey went 1 for 2.

Omar Prewitt's 25 points paced William & Mary (17-7, 9-4) and David Cohn had 13.
