Telfair scores 35, Idaho State beats Portland State 88-71

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) Ethan Telfair had 35 points with five 3-pointers and five assists on Thursday night and Idaho State used a strong finish to beat Portland State 88-71.

The Bengals (12-11, 7-4 Big Sky Conference) pulled away with an 11-1 run to lead 84-68 with 2:01 left. Idaho State led by 14 at the break, but Portland State (8-14, 4-7) closed within 56-55 just before the midpoint of the half.

Telfair was 12 of 20 from the field, including 5 of 11 from 3-point range, and finished two points short of the career high he set on Jan. 9 against North Dakota. Geno Luzcando added 17 points and Gary Chivichyan had 13 for the Bengals.

Cameron Forte was 11 of 15 from the field, finishing with 26 points and 13 rebounds and helping the Vikings outrebound Idaho State 35-32.

Idaho State has won six of its last seven.
