The Naismith Trophy watch list was narrowed from 50 to 35 on Thursday.
The list, which features the midseason candidates for college basketball’s player of the year award, notably features Oklahoma senior guard Buddy Hield, who is the country’s second-leading scorer with 25.7 points per game. LSU freshman Ben Simmons is also a front runner for the award, with 19.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest this season.
The ten semifinalists for the award will be announced on March 2, while the four finalists will be revealed on March 20.
