Tom Izzo named one of 14 finalists for Basketball Hall of Fame

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was named one of the 14 finalists for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

The 61-year-old Izzo is in the midst of his 21st season with the eighth-ranked Spartans, during which he’s led them to a 20–5 record.

In his tenure at the helm of Michigan State’s program, Izzo has helped the Spartans to seven Final Four appearances and a national championship in 2000. The Spartans have also made 18 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances under Izzo.

​An eight-time National Coach of the Year, Izzo is the second-winningest coach in Big 10 history with a 515–204 record.
