Alabama State edges Alabama A&M 74-68

NORMAL, Ala. (AP) Jamel Waters scored 16 points with five rebounds as Alabama State edged Alabama A&M 74-68 on Saturday night.

Glenn Hollaway added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Hornets (9-15, 4-8 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Terrance LeFlore and Bobby Brown had 10 points apiece. The team hit 43 percent from the field overall - including 8 of 19 from distance - and 62.5 percent from the line.

The Bulldogs (8-13, 4-8) had a 33-31 edge at the break but Alabama State overtook them in the second half, outscoring them 43-35.

Alabama A&M was 50 percent from the field overall - including just 1 of 14 from distance - and 74 percent from the line.

Nicholas West and Quinterian McConico scored 18 points apiece for the Bulldogs. West also led the team with 10 rebounds.
