Florida International pulls away from UTSA 79-65

MIAMI (AP) Donte McGill scored 20 points, including 12 in the second half when Florida International pulled away from UTSA for a 79-65 victory Saturday night, snapping a five-game losing streak.

Daviyon Draper added 18 points and Adrian Diaz 17, 10 in the second half, for the Panthers (12-14, 6-7 Conference USA). Diaz led a 34-24 rebounding edge with nine boards.

FIU shot 58 percent, and while only 3 of 10 from the arc, outscored the Roadrunners 46-24 in the paint.

The Panthers scored 10 consecutive points, including six straight by Elmo Stephen - his only points - to take a 59-44 lead with seven minutes left. UTSA didn't get within single digits after that.

Ryan Bowie scored 20 points, Christian Wilson 16 and J.R. Harris 13 for UTSA (4-22, 2-11), which was just 3 of 18 from the arc and has lost eight straight.
