Balanced scoring attack leads Alcorn State past UAPB 79-60

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) Tamarcio Wilson scored 12 points, while Devonte Hampton, Rahamanh Katumbusi II and Marquis Vance added 10 points apiece to help Alcorn State beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 79-60 Monday night.

It was a career high for the freshman Katumbusi, who averages 1.9 points.

Twelve different Alcorn State players scored as the Braves shot a season-high 54.5 percent (24 of 44) from the field and hit 11 of 19 (57.9 percent) from 3-point range.

Alcorn State (12-12, 10-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored the first eight points and a layup by Reginald Johnson made it 15-2 midway through the first half. The Braves led 39-21 at the break.

Vance hit two 3s during an 11-1 run that gave Alcorn State a 64-33 lead, its biggest of the game, with 8:22 left.

Charles Jackson led UAPB (6-21, 4-9) with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including all four of the Golden Lions' made 3-pointers. They finished 4 of 25 (16 percent) from behind the arc.
