Bethune-Cookman holds off NC A&T 83-77 in OT

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Jordan Potts had 21 points, LaRon Smith scored a career-high 20 and grabbed 11 rebounds and Bethune-Cookman beat North Carolina A&T 83-77 in overtime Monday night.

It was Bethune-Cookman's first overtime victory since the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament and its first road OT decision since Feb. 19, 2011.

Potts hit a 3-pointer for a 75-73 lead early in the extra session and he added two free throws for a four-point lead. Randy Holmes iced it with a 3 for an 82-75 advantage with 28 seconds left.

Diamante Lewis had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Ricky Johnson scored 13 for Bethune-Cookman (10-16, 7-5). Smith recorded his sixth double-double of the season.

Bethune-Cookman was up 67-63 with 28 seconds left in regulation but NC A&T rallied to tie it at 69-all on a Sam Hunt layup.

Ede Egharevba led NC A&T (8-19, 5-7) with 20 points and Hunt finished with 15.
