Houston Baptist edges Lamar 79-78

HOUSTON (AP) Anthony Odunsi scored 18 points with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals and Houston Baptist edged Lamar 79-78 on Monday night.

Colton Lasher's two free throws with 43 seconds left put Houston Baptist up by eight. Lamar's Dontavious Sears got loose for a layup, then Marcus Owens drilled a 3-pointer and Sears hit a jumper with nine seconds to go to get it back to one. Lamar had one more possession, but turned it over before getting off a shot.

Jourdan Stickler scored 17 points with five 3-pointers for Houston Baptist (15-11, 9-4 Southland), which snapped a four-game losing streak. Lasher and Reveal Chukwujekwu added 10 points and four assists apiece. The Huskies shot 54 percent and made 8 of 20 on 3-point attempts.

Lamar (10-15, 2-11) was led by Kevin Booze with 17 points and a career-high 11 assists. Dorian Chatman scored 14 points, Owens finished with 13 and Sears had 12.
