Big runs in second half help Akron beat Buffalo 80-70

AKRON, Ohio (AP) Antino Jackson scored 20 points and Akron used two big runs in the second half to pull away from Buffalo, 80-70 on Tuesday night.

The Zips (21-5, 10-3 Mid-American Conference) bounced back after a one-point loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday that had snapped a seven-game winning streak. Buffalo (14-12, 7-6) has lost three straight.

Isaiah Johnson had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Akron. Noah Robotham added 16 points and Reggie McAdams chipped in 13.

CJ Massinburg scored 21 points to lead Buffalo.

Tied at 42, Johnson made a layup to spark a 14-3 surge and the Zips led 56-45. Robotham made a 3, and McAdams capped the run with three straight 3-pointers.

Buffalo pulled to a 64-all tie midway through the second half. The Zips answered with a 16-4 run and led 80-68 with 1:43 left. Robotham had seven points and Johnson five during the stretch.
