Aldridge helps Davidson hold off Richmond for 83-79 win

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) Peyton Aldridge scored 24, including four free throws in the final 16 seconds, to help Davidson hold on for an 83-79 win over Richmond on Tuesday night.

Brian Sullivan hit five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and six assists, while Rusty Reigel scored 14 and Nathan Ekwu had 12 and nine rebounds for Davidson.

A 3 by Sullivan gave the Wildcats (15-9, 7-6 Atlantic 10) a nine-point lead with two minutes to play.

Terry Allen scored six during an 8-1 run by Richmond (14-11, 6-7) that trimmed its deficit to 76-74 with 33 seconds left, but Davidson made 7 of 8 free throws, including 4 of 4 by Aldridge, from there to seal it.

T.J. Cline led the Spiders with 25 points. Allen added 17 with eight rebounds and ShawnDre' Jones scored 13.

Davidson shot 53.8 percent (28 of 52) from the field, including 11 3-pointers.
