Central Michigan downs Toledo 77-69

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Braylon Rayson hit seven 3-pointers and scored 26 points to help Central Michigan hold off Toledo 77-69 on Tuesday night to end a three-game skid.

CMU and Toledo are now each a game behind Mid-American Conference leader Ball State, which beat Miami (Ohio) 73-56 Tuesday night.

Chris Fowler scored 16 points and made five assists for the Chippewas (14-12, 7-6), who made 12 of 27 from long distance and led 45-29 at halftime.

Toledo rallied to within 58-50 on Jaelan Sanford's 3-pointer with 10:19 left, but Rayson hit his seventh 3 of the game and the Chippewas led by 11.

The Rockets pulled to within three, 70-67, on Jonathan Williams' free throw with 53 seconds left, but got no closer. Rayson and John Simons combined to hit five free throws down the stretch.

Nathan Boothe scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Toldeo (16-10, 7-6), which had a four-game winning streak end.
