MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Wesley Person hit five 3-pointers and scored 28 points as Troy used a big first-half to upset South Alabama, 63-52 Thursday night.

It was the second-straight upset over a team higher in the Sun Belt Conference standings. The Trojans knocked off Georgia State Saturday, 54-53. Troy moves into a tie with Appalachian State and Texas State, all two games out of a spot in the Sun Belt Tournament, where the top eight teams qualify.

The Trojan defense limited South Alabama to 14 first-half points as the Jaguars converted just 17.9 percent of their first-half shots and a season-low 26.4 percent for the game. Troy (9-17, 4-11) took a 27-14 advantage into intermission, and Person hit four of his five 3-pointers in the second half to help maintain the advantage.

Ken Williams scored 13 points for South Alabama (11-15, 6-9) and was the lone Jaguar to reach double-figure scoring.
