Arkansas State will receive $1.7 million to play Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a game on Sept. 8, 2018, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazettereports.

Arkansas State will already fetch $1.65 million to play Nebraska in 2017.

“This game gives us all of those,” Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir told the Democrat-Gazette. “This one was really about being responsible for our budget, and this one gives us an opportunity to compete against one of the top brands in college football.”

Arkansas State played at USC last season for $1.3 million in what resulted in a 55–6 loss by the Red Wolves.

Alabama and Arkansas State last played each other in 2008, when the Crimson Tide won 35–0.

Alabama will open the 2016 season on Sept. 3 against USC at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Arkansas State will host Toledo to open their season on Sept. 3.
