UC Irvine rains 3s, beats Cal State-Fullerton 96-77

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) Jaron Martin made a career-high six 3-pointers, Mamadou Ndiaye added 17 points and UC Irvine hit 13 of 24 3-pointers in rallying to beat Cal State-Fullerton 96-77 on Wednesday night to sweep the season series.

Trailing 42-36 at halftime, the Anteaters took a 56-54 lead on Aaron Wright's layup, then Alex Young, Martin, Luke Nelson and Wright each hit 3s to spark an 18-1 run. Martin added back-to-back 3s after the surge and UC Irvine led 80-62 with 4:22 left.

Tre Coggins and Malcolm Brooks combined for three straight 3s with 1:34 to go, but the Titans trailed by double digits the rest of the way.

Young scored 13 points with five assists, Wright added 12 points with six assists and Nelson had 12 with a career-high 10 rebounds for the Anteaters (20-7, 9-2 Big West). The Anteaters shot 60.7 percent from the field and 54.2 percent from long distance.

Malcom Brooks matched his career high with 22 points for the Titans (9-16, 2-10), which have lost four straight.
