Louisiana Tech tops Texas-San Antonio, 87-74

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Alex Hamilton poured in 25 points and distributed six assists as Louisiana Tech won its third straight, topping Texas-San Antonio 87-74 Thursday night.

The Bulldogs put themselves in position for one of Conference USA's top seeds into the conference tournament by upsetting conference leaders Middle Tennessee and UAB last week and continued the streak by sweeping the season series with the Roadrunners to earn their 20th win.

Louisiana Tech took built a 41-34 lead by intermission and pushed it to 13 points when Hamilton stole the ball and fed Jy'lan Washington for a dunk two minutes into the second half.

Merrill Holden scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (20-6, 9-4). Derric Jean added 16 points off the bench.

Ryan Bowie scored 20 points and Lucas O'Brien added 18 for Texas-San Antonio (4-23, 2-12).
