Alcorn State defeats Alabama A&M 62-58

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) Marquis Vance scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half and Tamarcio Wilson snapped a tie with 31 seconds left to lead Alcorn State over Alabama A&M 62-58 on Saturday night.

The victory left the Braves (13-12, 11-3) alone in second place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, a game ahead of Southern and Jackson State, both at 10-4, and two games back in the loss column to leader Texas Southern (12-1).

Wilson and Rahamanh Katumbusi scored 11 points each and DeAndre' Davis added 10 for Alcorn State.

Quinterian McConico scored 13 points, Ladarius Tabb, the SWAC's leading scorer at 20 a game, had 12 and Nicholas West 11 for the Bulldogs (8-14, 4-9).

Vance's 3-pointer tied the game at 56-all with 2:17 to go. The teams exchanged baskets before Wilson scored inside with 31 seconds left with he and Vance adding free throws for the final margin.
