Eastern Illinois holds off Southeast Missouri 71-68

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Demetrius McReynolds scored 19 points with 12 rebounds and Eastern Illinois held off a late charge to beat Southeast Missouri State 71-68 on Saturday.

The Panthers led by as many as 14 midway through the second half. Southeast Missouri chipped away and drew to within five at 69-64 after Isiah Jones' 3-pointer with 33 seconds to go. After Eastern Illinois missed a free throw, Joel Angus III hit a jumper to make it a three-point game.

McReynolds missed two from the line to give Southeast Missouri another shot, but Jones missed a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left. McReynolds then sank a pair at the line, and the Redbirds ran out of time.

Casey Teson scored 14 points for Eastern Illinois and Trae Anderson added 12. The Panthers (12-16, 8-7 Ohio Valley) shot nearly 46 percent.

Antonius Cleveland led Southeast Missouri (5-23, 2-13) with 14 points. Angus finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
