Savannah State beats Howard, 66-56

WASHINGTON (AP) Kamil Williams hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points and Savannah State beat Howard 66-56 on Saturday.

Chris Martin and Troyce Manassa each added 16 points for Savannah State (11-13, 7-6 MEAC), which has won four consecutive games, its longest win streak of the season.

The Tigers shot just 42 percent from the field but hit 12 3-pointers, 10 more than their Howard counterparts.

James Daniel hit 13 of his 14 free throw attempts and had 24 points to lead the Bison (11-16, 5-7). Tyler Stone and Marcel Boyd each added eight points for Howard, who have lost six of seven. Howard was plagued with turnover issues much of the game, finishing with 25 total.

Savannah State built a 34-24 lead to close the first half and held on in the second, playing the Bison to a 32-32 tie over the final 20 minutes.
