Eastern Michigan roars past Western Michigan, 73-62

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) Willie Mangrum IV scored 16 points and Eastern Michigan grabbed the lead with 15 minutes left and powered past Western Michigan, 73-62 Tuesday night.

Eastern Michigan took a three-point lead into intermission, but the Broncos evened the game eight seconds into the second half when Bryce Moore drilled a three-pointer to make it 31-31. Drake LaMont got to the basket for back-to-back layups to give Western Michigan a 37-34 lead.

Jordan Nobles hit a jumper and a layup to push the Eagles back in front, 40-39, and by the time James Thompson IV scored on a layup with 9:53 left Eastern Michigan held a 57-44 advantage.

Mangrum was 6 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc for Eastern Michigan (15-13, 7-8 Mid-America Conference). Thompson added 14 points.

LaMont finished with 13 points to lead Western Michigan (11-17, 5-10).
