Cleveland State edges Northern Kentucky 63-58

CLEVELAND (AP) Rob Edwards scored 19 points - including three 3-pointers - and Cleveland State beat Northern Kentucky 63-58 Thursday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Drew McDonald hit a jumper with 2:35 left to give the Norse a 57-56 lead before Edwards hit two free throws to put the Vikings up for good. Andre Yates made a layup before McDonald hit 1 of 2 free throws and Northern Kentucky didn't score again.

Kenny Carpenter added 15 points for Cleveland State (9-21, 4-13 Horizon League). It was Cleveland State's second win in its last 10 games.

The Vikings led 31-24 at the break, before the Norse used a 9-2 run to take a 35-33 lead on Cole Murray's 3 with 16:20 remaining in the half.

McDonald led Northern Kentucky (8-20, 5-12) with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 12 rebounds. Jalen Billups added 17 points.

Northern Kentucky has lost five straight.
