Old Dominion holds off UTEP's late rally for 74-53 win

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Brandan Stith had 16 points and 15 rebounds as Old Dominion held off a late UTEP rally for a 74-53 win on Thursday night.

Zoran Talley also had 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Old Dominion (16-12, 9-6 Conference USA). Trey Freeman added 14 points as the Monarchs made 28 of 59 field goals while limiting UTEP to 20-of-57 shooting. The Miners tied their season-low point total.

Old Dominion sprinted to a 35-18 lead in the first half. The Miners rallied in the second period and had a 12-2 run to close to 55-51 with 5:39 left. The Monarchs closed the game on a 19-2 run.

The victory moves Old Dominion into fifth place in the conference standings, replacing UTEP, which had won six straight before dropping this one.

Omega Harris had 11 points for UTEP (17-12, 9-7). Terry Winn, Dominic Artis and Lee Moore added nine apiece for the Miners.
