JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Trevis Wyche scored on a layup and added a foul shot, the 3-point play with 40 seconds left, breaking open a one-point lead helping Saint Peter's end the regular season with a 72-68 defeat of Fairfield on Saturday.

Quadir Welton scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his tenth double-double of the season - twelfth of the junior's career - to lead Saint Peter's, with Elias Desport adding 12 points and seven boards. Wyche finished with eight points and three steals.

Seedings are up for grabs in the tightly contested Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which ends with four games Sunday. Saint Peter's (14-15, 12-8 MAAC) has posted its first winning season in the MAAC since 2010-2011 and will be no worse than a No. 4 seed.

Tyler Nelson scored 25 points - including a 3 with 19 seconds left to pull the Stags to within 70-68 - to lead Fairfield (18-12, 12-8).
