Western Carolina beats Furman 73-62 for 4th win in a row

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) Torrion Brummitt scored 19 points, added nine rebounds, and Western Carolina beat Furman 73-62 on Saturday.

Mike Brown also had 19 points to go along with six assists for Western Carolina (15-16, 10-8 Southern Conference), which closed the regular season on a high note winning four-straight games.

Western Carolina hit 51 percent of its shots while holding Furman to just 39 percent, and had 17 team assists on its 25 total field goals.

Devin Sibley scored 24 points led lead Furman (17-14, 11-7), which has lost three in a row to end the regular season. Stephen Croone added 18 points.

Western Carolina led just 56-55 with 6:08 left but pulled away down the stretch. Brown hit a jumper and Brummitt finished a 3-point play to make it 61-55. Brown added a dunk which pushed the lead to double figures (67-57) with 2:32 remaining and put the game out of reach.
