Hawaii cruises by CSUN 89-78 to remain in 1st in Big West

HONOLULU (AP) Stefan Jankovic scored 28 points and Hawaii beat Cal State Northridge 89-78 on Saturday night to hold onto first place in the Big West Conference standings.

Jankovic was 8 of 10 from the field and hit 10 of 12 free throws.

Quincy Smith, who had 10 points, scored four straight during Hawaii's 6-0 run for its first double-digit lead at 58-47 with 14:16 left. The Rainbow Warriors led by at least eight the rest of the way.

Roderick Bobbitt hit 9 of 11 from the stripe and finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for Hawaii (23-4, 12-2). Sai Tummala added 16 points for the Rainbow Warriors, who lead UC Irvine (11-3) by one game with two to play and have beaten the Anteaters twice this season.

Aaron Parks scored 18 points for CSUN (10-19, 5-10) and Jerron Wilbut added 17.

The Matadors last led at 42-41 before trailing by one at halftime.
