Albany (NY) pulls away from Hartford 75-59

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Evan Singletary scored 19 points, Greig Stire scored a career-high 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds and Albany beat Hartford 75-59 on Saturday night to win its fourth-straight game.

The teams will meet again Wednesday in the America East Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Ray Sanders scored 16 for the second-seeded Great Danes (24-7, 13-3), who trailed early but led 33-29 at halftime behind Sanders' 12 points.

Jason Dunne's layup and 3-pointer pulled Hartford within 44-40, but Albany pulled ahead on Singletary's jumper and led 61-51 with 5:43 remaining.

Pancake Thomas trimmed the deficit to eight with a layup with 3:22 left, but Singletary hit a 3 and Joe Cremo hit two free throws after being fouled on a steal and the Great Danes led by 14 with 1:43 to go. Hartford got no closer.

Thomas scored 23 points for the Hawks (9-22, 4-12) and Jalen Ross added 13.
