Jackson State rolls past Mississippi Valley State 60-49

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Raeford Worsham scored 18 points and hauled in a career-high 15 rebounds to lead Jackson State to a 60-49 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.

Yettra Specks and Kaven Bernard added 11 points apiece for Jackson State (16-12, 11-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which hit 22 of 66 from the field to win its third straight.

Jackson State never trailed, getting a 3-pointer from Specks to open the game, and cruising to 30-24 advantage at the break. The Tigers continued to pull away over the final 20 minutes.

Mississippi Valley State (5-25, 5-11) cut the deficit to nine points three times in the second half but couldn't get any closer.

Marcus Romain led the Delta Devils with a career-high 29 points. John Sanders added 10 points and Vacha Vaughn collected 12 rebounds as Mississippi Valley State lost its fifth straight.
