Lewis' half-court heave lifts Abilene Christian to 87-84 win

ABILENE, Texas (AP) Jaylen Franklin scored 28 points and had a steal and assist of Jaren Lewis' half-court heave in the final seconds that gave Abilene Christian an 87-84 win over New Orleans on Saturday.

The Wildcats (13-16, 8-8 Southland Conference) trailed by four with 24 seconds left. Franklin had a 3-point play with 12.6 seconds left that pulled them within 83-82 and his layup with 5.8 seconds left tied it at 84.

Jalen Little scored 15, Lewis finished with 13 and Parker Wentz 10 for the Wildcats.

Nate Frye made two pairs of free throws in the final minute that pushed the Privateers (9-17, 5-10) ahead 83-79. New Orleans' six-point advantage with 10:19 to play was the largest lead for either team in the second half.

Michael Zeno had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Privateers. Travin Thibodeaux and Christavious Gill had 13 points each, Frye 11 and Erik Thomas 10.
