Utah State cruises to 88-70 win over San Jose State

LOGAN, Utah (AP) Chris Smith scored 20 points, Quinn Taylor added 16 with 10 rebounds and Utah State cruised to an 88-70 win over San Jose State on Saturday night.

Utah State (14-13, 6-10 Mountain West) also got 12 points from Darius Perkins and 11 by Jalen Moore to bounce back from a pair of losses on the road. The Aggies shot 55 percent (27 of 49), hitting 10 of 17 from long range, and got 20 assists.

Leading by six at the break, Utah State opened the second half with a 19-3 run to make it 62-39 with 12:29 left. Taylor scored nine points in the run and Julion Pearre had a 3-pointer, propelling the Aggies to a double-digit advantage that held the rest of the way.

Cody Schwartz led San Jose State (8-20, 3-13) with 11 points while Frank Rogers and Princeton Onwas had 10 each.
