Henderson nets 28, Sam Houston beats Central Arkansas 83-73

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Dakarai Henderson had five 3-pointers and a career-high 28 points on Monday night and Sam Houston State beat Central Arkansas 83-73.

Jovante' Spivey's 3-pointer gave Sam Houston State a 77-70 lead with 39 seconds left and the Bearkats made six straight free throws to seal the win.

The Bearkats (16-13, 11-5 Southland Conference) took the lead for good at 64-63 on Albert Almanza's pair of free throws with 4:46 left. They came during a 12-1 run that Henderson's jumper capped at 71-63 with 2:52 left.

Spivey and Aurimas Majauskas had 12 points each and Torry Butler added 11 points with 10 rebounds for the Bearkats.

Jordan Howard had 24 points for Central Arkansas (7-19, 6-10), his ninth game this season scoring over 20. Justin Foreman added 16 and Jeff Lowery 13.

The Bears (7-19, 6-10) led the entire first half and played back-and-forth in the second until Sam Houston State pulled away late.
