Grambling State defeats Alabama A&M 65-58

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) Ervin Mitchell scored 16 points and Mark Gray collected seven rebounds to lead Grambling State past Alabama A&M 65-58 on Thursday night ending the Tigers' 11-game losing streak.

Grambling (7-22, 4-13 Southwestern Athletic Conference) hadn't won since Jan. 6 when it beat NAIA-member Jarvis Christian 80-58.

Michael Bethea Jr. and Deonte Hearns each tallied 14 points for the Tigers.

Alabama A&M led 34-33 at halftime, but after intermission the Tigers used a 6-0 spurt and never surrendered the lead.

Alabama A&M (9-17, 5-12) was led by Nicholas West who finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Ladarius Tabb and Quinterian McConico each scored 11 points.

The Bulldogs have lost three straight and six of their last seven.

Grambling State shot 26 for 48 from the field (54.2 percent) while the Bulldogs were 21 for 51 (41.2).
