Kempton, Lehigh beat Navy; advance to Patriot League semis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) Tim Kempton scored 13 of his 22 points in the second half and finished with 17 rebounds Thursday night to help second-seeded Lehigh slip past No. 7 seed Navy 65-63 and advance to the semifinals of the Patriot League tournament.

Kyle Leufroy added 17 points for the Mountain Hawks, who will play sixth-seeded American (12-18) on Sunday.

The Midshipmen (19-14) used a 25-3 run, capped by Tilman Dunbar's put-back layup, over the next 10 minutes to take a two-point lead.

There were four ties and the lead changed hands five times from there, the last of which came on a layup by Austin Price that put Lehigh (16-14) up 57-56 with 1:28 remaining.

Navy's Shawn Anderson hit the second of two free throws 33 seconds later to tie it for the final time, but Kempton converted a 3-point play with 40 seconds left and Leufroy made 5 of 6 free throws in the last 22 seconds to seal it.

Anderson led Navy with 18 points.

Lehigh has won 10 in a row.
