Green Bay beats Cleveland State 65-53 in Horizon tourney

DETROIT (AP) Jordan Fouse scored 18 points, Carrington Love had seven steals - a Horizon League tournament record - and No. 4 seed Green Bay beat ninth-seeded Cleveland State 65-53 on Saturday in the first round.

Love also had seven steals - a career-high - in Green Bay's win over Cleveland State on Feb. 22. Fouse scored 10 of Green Bay's first 16 points on Saturday and had 12 by the break as Green Bay led 30-26.

Cleveland State pulled to 56-53 with 3:10 remaining, but Green Bay closed on a 9-0 run.

Charles Cooper added 15 points for Green Bay (20-12), which posted its third consecutive 20-win season for the first time since 1990-92. First-year coach Linc Darner is the second coach in program history to win 20 games in his inaugural season.

Demonte Flannigan led Cleveland State (9-23) with 15 points.

Green Bay plays No. 5 seed Milwaukee on Sunday in the second round.
