Western Michigan rallies past Central Michigan 91-82, OT

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Thomas Wilder scored 26 points, and Tucker Haymond added 20 with 15 rebounds as Western Michigan came from as many as 18 points down to defeat Central Michigan 91-82 in overtime in Friday night's regular-season finale.

Western Michigan (13-18, 7-11 Mid-American Conference) dominated the extra period, winning the tip, opening on a 9-1 run and scoring 26 points, which ties an NCAA record for most points in an overtime (Vermont, 1998).

Wilder, a sophomore, has been the leading scorer in conference games all season. He added 13 points on 15 tries from the foul line. Haymond was 7 of 10 at the line and the Broncos made 33 of 48 free throws on 28 fouls called on Central Michigan (17-14, 10-8).

Braylon Rayson scored 26 points and Chris Fowler 23 for Central Michigan.

No. 10 seed Western Michigan meets No. 7 Northern Illinois in the MAC tournament March 7. Central Michigan is No. 4 with a first-round bye.
