Cornell fights off Brown in 75-71 win

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) Matt Morgan scored 25 points and Darryl Smith added 13 to help Cornell hold off a late Brown charge 75-71 on Saturday.

Morgan made a pair of free throws to give the Big Red a 72-68 lead with 17 seconds remaining. Out of Brown's timeout, Morgan got a steal, was immediately fouled and made 1 of 2 free throws to seal the win for Cornell (10-18, 3-11 Ivy League).

Cornell used a 13-6 run to build a 51-40 lead. The Bears immediately followed with a 20-11 run to get within two, 62-60, on Kuakumensah's layup with 3:06 left.

But David Onuorah and Morgan both hit jumpers, while Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof and Morgan added free throws, to make it 67-61. JR Hobbie's 3 with 44 seconds left brought Brown back to with two at 70-68.

Kuakumensah led Brown (8-20, 3-11) with 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Obi Okolie scored 17 points and Steven Spieth had 12 points and collected 13 rebounds.
