Idaho pulls away from Idaho State in 80-70 win

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) Victor Sanders scored 25 points and Perrion Callandret and Nate Sherwood each scored 11 to lead Idaho past Idaho State 80-70 Saturday night in the regular season finale for both teams.

Idaho (20-11, 12-6 Big Sky) enters next week's conference tournament as the third seed and Idaho State (16-14, 11-7) will be the No. 4 seed. Both teams have a first-round bye.

The Vandals led 54-53 with eight minutes left and proceeded to outscore Idaho State 26-17 down the stretch. Sanders scored 16 the rest of the way including all four of his made 3s.

Leading 33-29 near the end of the first half, Sanders scored back-to-back layups for an eight-point Vandals lead at the break.

Arkadiy Mkrtychyan hit a pair of free throws for Idaho for a 44-31 lead before the Bengals went on an 18-6 run to cut the lead to a point on a 3 by Gary Chivichyan with just under 12 minutes left.

Ethan Telfair led Idaho State with 24 points and Chivichyan added 17.
