Gonzaga beats Portland 92-67 in WCC quarterfinals

LAS VEGAS (AP) Eric McClellan scored a season-high 26 and No. 2 seed Gonzaga beat No. 7 seed Portland 92-67 in the West Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals Saturday night.

Domantas Sabonis added 24 points, Silas Melson scored 15 and Kyle Wiltjer 13. The Bulldogs (24-7) face third-seeded BYU (25-5) in the semifinals Monday night.

Gonzaga scored 11 straight to lead 39-20 with 5:06 left in the first half. Portland twice got within 12 before the Bulldogs pulled away late with their largest lead at the final score.

Sabonis, who entered the game with two 3-pointers on the season, made both of his 3-point attempts and 8 of 11 from the field. McClellan was 3 of 5 from 3-point range.

Bulldogs center Ryan Edwards left the game late in the first half with right knee injury and did not return.

Bryce Pressley had 16 points and D'Marques Tyson and Alec Wintering added 13 each for Portland (12-20).
