Old Dominion tops Louisiana Tech 68-52 in C-USA tourney

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Trey Freeman scored 25 points with seven rebounds and Old Dominion topped Louisiana Tech 68-52 in a Conference USA tournament quarterfinal game Thursday.

The Monarchs (21-12) will face eighth-seeded Western Kentucky (17-15), which beat UAB, in the semifinals Friday.

Freeman was 10 of 26 from the field with three 3-pointers and added four assists. Aaron Bacote scored 14 points, while Denzell Taylor grabbed 10 rebounds with eight points.

Erik McCree led Louisiana Tech (23-9) with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Alex Hamilton added 12 points and six assists. The Bulldogs shot 32.7 percent from the field, including 5 of 20 from beyond the arc.

It was close early, and Old Dominion led by five at intermission, 32-27. The Monarchs opened the second half with a 10-2 run, and when Louisiana Tech suffered a 6:36 scoreless drought, ODU steadily pulled away.
