James Cook has verbally committed to join his brother, sophomore running back Dalvin Cook, at Florida State, according to Scout.com

Cook, who is also a running back, is the second commit to Florida State’s 2019 class.

“I committed to Florida State,” Cook told 247 Sports. “They’ve showed me love and the coaches are great....I wanted to do it because it was the right decision and now is the right time.”

Cook chose the Seminoles over Alabama, Florida, Georgia and others, but said he had not yet informed his brother of his decision.

LSU QB Anthony Jennings will transfer

“He’s going to get surprised. I haven’t told him yet,” Cook said. “He’ll tell me it’s a great move. He’ll be real happy.”

Dalvin Cook ran for 1,691 yards with 19 touchdowns last season for the No. 14 Seminoles, who finished the year 10–3. James, who is slightly smaller than Dalvin at 5'11", 182 pounds, said he tries to emulate his brother on the field.

“I’m similar to him. I’m a leader on the field and get us to where we want to be, which is to win a championship,” Cook said.
