LSU’s Ben Simmons will hire agent, declare for NBA draft

LSU star freshman Ben Simmons confirmed to ESPN on Sunday that he will hire an agent and declare for the 2016 NBA Draft, saying that he is “making it official.”

LSU star freshman Ben Simmons confirmed to ESPN on Sunday that he will hire an agent and declare for the 2016 NBA Draft, saying that he is “making it official.”

Last week, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that Simmons plans to hire Rich Paul, the agent of Cavaliers superstar LeBron James.

Simmons’s sister also currently works for Paul’s agency, Klutch Sports.

Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists in his only season at the college level. Despite Simmons being arguably the most talented player in the NCAA, the Tigers struggled on their way to a 19–14 record.

LSU’s season came to an end with a loss to Texas A&M in the semifinal of the SEC Tournament. The school decline an invitation to play in the NIT. 

The 19-year-old Australian is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the draft on June 23.
