Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield was named the 2016 Naismith Trophy winner at a ceremony Sunday morning.

The senior was the second-leading scorer in Division I this season, averaging 25.0 points per game while shooting 50.1%.

The two-time Big 12 Player of the Year led the Sooners to their first final four appearance since 2002.

In titanic loss, Buddy Hield’s career at Oklahoma comes to a solemn end

Hield joins Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin as the only Oklahoma players to win the award.

He beat out Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine, who was named the AP Player of the Year, for the honor. Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon and Kentucky’s Tyler Ulis were also finalists.
