Maryland will hire Kentucky assistant Andy Buh as its new defensive coordinator, according to multiplereports.

Buh coached outside linebackers at Kentucky, and was promoted to special teams coordinator in March. At Maryland, Buh will replace Scott Shafer, who left the job for personal reasons a few months months after being hired.

Buh has worked with new Terrapins coach D.J. Durkin previously in his career, when they were defensive assistants for three seasons at Stanford. Buh was a co-defensive coordinator for the Cardinal, and also held the defensive coordinator job with Nevada and California.

Durkin, who was the defensive coordinator at Michigan prior to accepting the Maryland job, was hired after Randy Edsall was fired six games into his fifth season with the Terps. Maryland has won only five conference games during two seasons in the Big Ten.
