Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly will miss the remainder of the team’s spring workouts after undergoing surgery on a sports hernia, according to Daniel Paulling of the Clarion-Ledger.

Kelly is not expected to miss any regular season action, which kicks off with the Sept. 5 season opener against Florida State.

He finished last season with 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns, and added another 107 rushes for 500 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Kelly initially consulted his draft stock with the NFL Draft Advisory Board before electing to return for his senior year.

The Rebels will work with redshirt quarterback Jason Pellerin and true freshman Shea Patterson at quarterback for the remainder of the spring.

Ole Miss finished last season with a 10–3 record that was capped with a 48–20 victory over Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl.
