Jefferson hit a buzzer-beating three to close the opening frame, drilling a shot from the top of the key over a Syracuse defender to give UConn a 28–13 lead heading into the second quarter.
Jefferson finished the first quarter with nine points. UConn would go on to win 82–51 and secure its fourth consecutive national championship.
