Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman was arrested for a sexual assault charge, according to the Waco Police Department.

Oakman, a prospect in the upcoming NFL draft, was taken into custody and transported to jail.

The Waco Tribunereported earlier Thursday that a ‘prominent’ Baylor football player was under investigation for sexual assault. The alleged incident took place early Sunday between 2 and 3 a.m. at the player’s residence near the school’s campus. According to the report, police have searched and seized several items from his bedroom. The woman involved went to the hospital and was examined for sexual assault.

A Baylor spokeswoman told the Tribune the school will “cooperate fully with any investigation.”

Two former Baylor football players, Tevin Elliott and Sam Ukwuachu, have been convicted of sexual assault dating back to 2012.

The news of the latest sexual assault investigation came hours after university president Ken Starr publicly addressed the previous cases for the first time. Starr and Baylor have come under fire for their handling of the prior incidents since Ukwuachu was convicted last August.
