Retrial finds ex-Vanderbilt player guilty of aggravated rape

Former Vanderbilt player Cory Batey has been found guilty of aggravated rape of an unconscious woman following a retrial, The Tennessean reports.
Following a weeklong trial, a jury reached a verdict late Friday. Batey was taken into custody immediately. His full list of charges included aggravated rape, two counts of attempted aggravated rape, facilitation of aggravated rape and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. His sentencing is scheduled for May.
The charges stemmed from events taking place in 2013. Batey, 22, was the one of four players charged.
Batey and teammate Brandon Vandenburg were found guilty of charges against them last year, but released from jail after a mistrial was deemed. Vandenburg is set for a retrial in June. The case is pending for the two other players involved, Jaborian “Tip” McKenzie and Brandon E. Banks.
The trial itself featured graphic images and videos from the assault, which players recorded on their cell phones in a dorm room.
