Saint Joseph’s head coach Phil Martelli doesn’t think he deserves the award for the best coach in Philadelphia, not after Villanova won the national championship.

Martelli was given the Big 5’s Coach of the Year award—the Big 5 consists of St. Joseph’s, Villanova, Temple, Penn and La Salle—on Monday but made a slight alteration after being presented with the trophy.

Martelli told the audience assembled at the Palestra that he would give the award to Wright.

Martelli led the Hawks to the Atlantic 10 tournament championship after finishing fourth in the conference during the regular season. They lost to Oregon in the second round of the NCAA tournament

I mean, Martelli was the coach of the only Big 5 team to win its conference.
